Hi Everyone,

I have had a number of requests for this stitch so today I thought I would create a video and written instructions on how I create it.

You will need:

Crocheting hook (I’m using a 4.5mm)

Yarn

Scissors

This is UK terms (for US terms please used the conversion chart)

Ch = Chain

DC = Double Crochet

Use the appropriate hook size for your yarn- details of this can be found on your yarn cover/label.

Instructions:

Step 1: To start with you need to create a slip knot. Below is a step by step guide on how to create the slip knot.

Step 2: You need to create a ch of 6 stitches to do this you need to yarn over pull through this will create your first stitch, then to create the second stitch you do the same again. Yarn over and pull through. Repeat this until you have 6 stitches on your hook.

Step 3: You now need to insert your crocheting hook into the first stitch you create you will then end up with two stitches on the hook. Yarn over and pull through both stitches this will create a circle.

Step 4: You need to ch 3. Yarn over and pull through this will create the first stitch. Repeat this step 2 more times until you have 3 stitches.

Step 5: You now need to insert your hook into the middle of circle and do two more double crochet. Yarn over and pull through 2 and then yarn over and pull through 2 again this will create your second lot of DC. Repeat the previous step. This will then create a cluster of 3.

Step 6: Ch 3 and repeat step 5

Step 7: Ch 3 and repeat step 5

Step 8: Ch 3 and repeat step 5

Step 9: You should now have 4 lots of clusters 3 in each. You now need to join the 2 corners together. So Ch 3 and then insert your hook into the last stitch. Yarn over and pull through both stitches. This will then join the work together and will be the start of the granny square.

Round 2:

Step 1: Ch 3 turn your work round.

Step 2: You now need to create two double crochets into the same sections. To do this you yarn over and place the hook into the sections your working in. You then yarn over and pull through, yarn over pull through 2 and yarn over and pull through 2. This will then create the 2 DC. You now need to do it one more time. This will then create the 3rd lot which will make the cluster.

Step 3: You need to Ch 3, Yarn over and insert into the same section you were just working in and do 3 DC in there. Once you have done this cluster it will have created the corner of your work.

Step 4: You now need to Ch 2. Yarn over into the next section and do 3 DC in this section.

Step 5: You now need to Ch 3 and do 3 DC into the same section you were working in. This will then create the next corner.

Step 6: Repeat Step 4

Step 7: Repeat Step 5.

Step 8: Continue to repeat the above steps until you get back to where you started. You then need to join your work together. To do this insert your hook into the first stitch like you previously done on round one.

Round three:

To create the next round follow the above step from round 2 and this will create round 3.
